Ethno-democratic Revolution Road-map
[By Tayza Thuria]

During our 17 years long democratic revolution since 8.8.88, what have we achieved so far_ let me be frank_ NOTHING! We have achieved nothing so far.
Neo-Fascist military regime is still in power. All really active democratic activists are in jail or in exile. Ethnic armed groups are in their own dilemma of whether to lay down their arms and collaborate with SPDC or not.
We cannot afford to go on and on in very lethargic current condition. Let me suggest some more serious options.

Ethno-democratic Revolution Road-map
(1) Unity_ First of all we need a solidarity among all political groups and all ethnic groups. Democratic political groups have international support and recognition but no military strength. On the other hand, ethnic armed groups have well experienced and well-armed fighting forces. So, an ethno-democratic coalition will have both political credibility and military capabilities.

(2) Coalition Army_ Then we should form an Ethno-democratic Coalition Army inclusive of all ethnic forces plus ABSDF plus any democratic activists who want to fight.

(3) External Help _ Even our Bogyoke Aung San had to take foreign help in his quest for our country's Independence. So we'll need a good help from good friends, like US & UK & EU, for all aspects_ political & financial & diplomatic & even military_ of our ethno-democratic revolution.

(4) Internal actions_ We must somehow get conditions ungovernable for SPDC inside Burma. There are some dormant activists inside Burma. We can somehow contact them and motivate them to make protests and demonstrations as much as they can to make situations inside Burma utterly ungovernable under SPDC regime.

(5) Sanctions_ We must urge our friends US, UK & EU etc. to maintain sanctions, and even increase sanctions as much as possible.

(6) Enforce Sanctions_ We must pressure foreign companies doing business with SPDC to stop their activities. And we must declare supporters of SPDC such as China, Thailand etc., as enemies of democracy.

(7) UN mandate_ We must get United Nations involved in our ethno-democratic revolution. We have to ask for a UN resolution for international sanctions on SPDC regime. We should ask UN to kick out SPDC representatives, and to recognize NCGUB as Burma's official representative in UN. We will eventually need a UN mandate for an international coalition force for regime change in Burma_ as they did in Afghanistan.
