In a statement Friday, Mr. Bush said the Burmese pro-democracy leader's "strength, courage, and personal sacrifice" have inspired those who stand for freedom.
Laura Bush, First Lady of the United States, in her remarks on International Women's Day on March 8, 2005 _ “We join people around the world in protesting the house arrest of Aung San Suu Kyi, who is a leader in the struggle for freedom in Burma.”

Kofi's affections

Tony's Support
In his message British prime minister, Tony Blair, said, “It is on the occasion of her 60th birthday, I once again call for the immediate release of Aung San Suu Kyi, the courageous Burmese pro-democracy leader, in the interest of dialogue and national reconciliation in Burma".

Combined Support from Europe
The European Union has urged Burma’s ruling military junta to release Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and has expressed concern over recent terrorist attacks in the country.
In an official declaration, the EU presidency said Suu Kyi, who turns 60 on Sunday, would again pass her birthday under house arrest, cut off from contact with her family, friends and political colleagues.

From Germany with love
